Industrial Design, Packaging and User Guide
Sky WiFi Max (hub and extender pod) was designed with sustainability at its core. Building on elements from the previous Hub 4 platform, this project focused on reducing material usage, simplifying construction, and supporting product refurbishment.
To achieve this, spray painting was eliminated; instead, the colour is derived from the inherent properties of the plastic. The front logo was redesigned to be a moulded feature of the enclosure, removing the need for a separate glued component that was used in previous generations.
The packaging was created using recycled cardboard, featuring a single-color print approach and no single-use plastics, which helps reduce material consumption and improves recyclability. Additionally, a self-interlocking cable wrap was designed to eliminate the need for glue. The WiFi Max exemplifies how thoughtful design choices in the product, packaging, and user experience can significantly reduce environmental impact.
